LIFE TRANSITIONS
Counseling, coaching, and psychotherapy help us to adjust to change. The world around us is constantly changing, and we grapple with new sociocultural circumstances all the time. Life is a series of challenges. We find ourselves gradually maturing as adults over a span of years, and sometimes we find ourselves unprepared to face our own adult life changes. From time to time we can all benefit from a helping hand to engage productively in:
-
Workplace changes in job descriptions, organizational structures, supervisors, coworkers, special projects, professional burnout, job loss, job relocation
- Family disruptions such as birth of a child, the ebbs and flows of a normal marriage, the "empty nest" when children grow up and leave home, new neighborhoods, new neighbors, separation and divorce, loss of a loved one
- Adult maturation experiences such as milestone birthdays, lifestyle changes, retirement, changes in body image, physical aging
Most people experience uncertainties
and stress as their circumstances change. It's normal. Adult Counseling Services
offer a steady hand in the midst of change. We can work together to overcome transitional distress by exploring your
core values and beliefs, restructuring aspects of the way that you habitually
think and perceive the world, making a few behavior changes, and adjusting
some roles and living arrangements.
The overall goal of my Adult Counseling Services is to assist clients to maintain
an enhanced, balanced quality of life in the the midst of change. Some clients may also benefit from
medication and/or from specialized psychotherapies; these are services for
which I'll refer you to other trusted professionals.
My Adult Counseling Services office serves both sides of the Potomac River. The office is located in Alexandria and convenient to Arlington, Fairfax County, Falls Church, District of Columbia, Annandale, and parts of Prince George's County. For directions to our office.
